The Vacaville Art League was formed in 1963 with no facility to meet in, nor a place to display artwork. In May of 1965, the City of Vacaville leased the circa 1880’s Segura home to the Art League and members quickly rolled up their sleeves to bring the old Victorian back to life. Fundraising efforts generated money for materials and local businesses generously donated much-needed supplies. On March 16, 1968, the Vacaville Art League opened its Gallery doors to the public at 718 E. Monte Vista Avenue. Their mission is to create an atmosphere that encourages community participation in the visual arts; provide artists with exhibition space and opportunities to share and develop creative skills; and stimulate and educate members of the community by bringing an awareness and appreciation of fine art through exhibitions, classes and demonstrations.
